Guadalupe Mountains National Park is actually in Texas just west of Carlsbad Caverns. The park protects the most scenic and rugged parts of the Guadalupe Mountains and is mostly a wilderness area. At 8751 feet Guadalupe Peak is the highest point in Texas.
